Workout Nerdout: Episode 3 -- Squat Body Lean
Most strength & conditioning coaches and personal trainers will agree that the squat is one of the most important exercises that athletes should master. Although you might not be an athlete, yourself, mastering the squat can have substantial benefits in your day-to-day life, as well as being an effective lower body injury reducer. However, to get the full benefit of the squat, one has to demonstrate perfect form.
As a fitness trainer, one of the most common problems that I see from my clients and gym members is the excessive, forward-leaning torso. While this is unlikely to have any negative side effects for those that only do bodyweight squats, it could result in a serious back injury, if left alone. In this episode of the Workout Nerdout, I explain the dangers of allowing the chest to fall forward, along with tips to solve this error.
